Thread: CAI causing wierd noise

Put a Cai on this summer and now the car is making some sort of gargling noise. Hard to explain and I have no audio for it. It definately is affected by the rpms. It usually only happens @ 1/4 throttle if i go harder u cant hear it (drowned out by s/c noise) Not sure whats going on, I know when you put a cone filter on u can hear the valves more but i didnt think it would make a chug/gargle noise its not quite a tick either. 2005 Comp G 70000km on her. Oh and the oil gets pretty dark other than that no other symptoms. I am going to seafoam soon. Was wondering if one of my lifters is gone or going. Any suggestions?

It's normal. You just hear it more with a CAI setup vs the stock setup.

Thats good news thx for the replys, now what could be causing the dirty oil... I change it every 5000km or less and use synthetic and the car has somewhat low mileage only 70000 km = 43000 miles. What type of seamfoam should I use there are a few kinds I can get my hands on.

You don't need a bigger TB as in the LS1/N* until your cammed or shooting sub 3.2" pulleys

I like the noise. You realize your car is drive buy wire right? and the n* tb is not.

And you HAVE to use your stock TB...there is no upgrade unless you can figure out a way to match the pins from a larger bore DBW TB such as a LS2/LS7
